Where & What will I study?
You will not need to go into a Cnetre to study. You will be able to study wherever you have broadband access to the Internet. The learning also involves specific work-based activities and short written assignments.
You will study part-time and can choose between doing just one module or a whole BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Management Studies. A single module such as "Time Management" can be completed in less than 20 hours, whereas the Diploma will normally take at least 12 months. To gain the Diploma you must successfully complete the full programme.
Can I gain a nationally recognised qualification?
If you decide to do the full programme and are successful you will gain the BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Management Studies. Those completing three or six units will be awarded the Professional Award or the Professional Certificate respectively.
Where will this lead?
You can leave it there or decide to seek progression to one of out partner Universities, to extend your studies to degree level. Pitman Training is able to offer, through our partner Universities, the chance to progress to degree level. A learner would begin learning with Pitman Training and upon successfully completing all nine units of the BTEC Diploma would be eligible for entry to
University of Stirling to take an Honours Degree in Marketing and be exempt from the first two years
or
University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) to be considered for study on a BA Honours Degree in Business Management (Final Year Top UP)
The third year need not be studied on campus.
Do management bodies recognise these courses?
Yes. Success on your BTEC programme will lead to fast-tracked recognition by both the Institute of Leadership and Management and the Chartered Institute of Management. The ILM will provide a year's free studying membership to support Pitman Training Learners whilst they are working towards their BTEC qualification with Pitman training. This provides access to Harvard Business Publishing online reference modules and the ILM's management magazine amongst other things.
